Duct Cleaning FAQs
How do you clean the ducts?
Please refer to our duct cleaning page to see how we clean the ducts.
How much does it cost?
Please refer to the duct services for price information.
How long does it take?
The length of time it takes depends on the size of your house. Generally speaking though, it will take between 1 to 2 hours on total.
How often should I have my ducts cleaned?
This depends on what you have in your home. If you have children and pets, then once a year is recommended. If you don't then once every couple of years is sufficient. However, some houses are just exceptionally dusty and need it every year regardless of inhabitants or furnishings. So the short answer is that it depends on what's in the house.
Do you deodorize the ducts?
We don't deodorize as that involves spraying chemical fragrances and they are irritating to many people. We do disinfect to keep populations of mould and other biologicals down, which tends to improve the scent of the air coming from the ducts.
Does duct cleaning remove the smell of cigarettes?
As cigarette smoke circulates throughout the home it attaches to the many surfaces it comes in contact with, especially fabrics and upholstery. Duct cleaning will reduce the strength of the smell, but it won't get rid of it completely. To reduce the amount of smoke circulating in the air, consider purchasing an air purifier and keeping your furnace filter clean.
Do I have to prepare anything in advance?
Please make sure all registers and returns are easily accessible, or if the furniture is too heavy point out where they are. Also, please clear out 3 feet of space around the ductwork and furnace.
Why do I need 3 feet around the furnace?
To properly set up and attach the hose we need adequate space around the furnace. If you've never had your ducts cleaned we will make a circular cut out in the ducts to attach the hose, and after cleaning we will repair the hole with a sealed plate that is attached with self tapping screws. In tight spaces we may need to go in through the drywall to access the ducts.
Is it noisy?
Not inside the house.
